Revell Modzilla

modzilla

Revell has been around for a long time. Most of you know them as a plastic kit manufacture that brings back memories of childhood fun. I remember painting and assembling those ill fitting kits that managed to look good with lots of elbow grease and a steady hand. Now that being said their models and kits have improved greatly over the years as a new generation has moved into the hobby.

Revell like a lot of companies have diversified their range into Radio Control models. The big surprise is that they came up with a winning combo that everyone will enjoy. 1/16 and 1/18 scale RC has been a huge roller coaster in the past decade with many brands leaving the mini/micro segment and focusing their efforts on 1/10 and 1/8 vehicles. Revell noticed a gap in hobby shops not particularly in price but in feature content for price. So when I have a newbie, a gifter or someone looking for a small vehicle to tool around with we now have another solid choice to look at.

The Modzilla feature list is awesome. 4×4 with steel drive train, oversized knobby tires, rechargeable lithium battery and 2 awesome body colour schemes to suit your style. The Modzilla looks great. It is bigger than most vehicles in its class and has a solid feel. The included 2.4ghz radio has good range and has worry free controls, there is an on/off switch and a steering trim knob {nice and simple}. Handling is good out of the box but an upgrade to oil filled shocks could really make Modzilla handle even better. The Modzilla is a hobby grade truck with all parts available and in stock at Chris’s House.

Working on the truck is straight forward with minimal hardware and thanks to its larger size is a heck of a lot easier to work on compared to its competition. When we used our tester we reached speeds around 30km/h and did not experience any breakage. These trucks are good performers and would be suited to anyone looking for an entry level or simple bash around the house truck.

Next time you are in the shop ask to see one and see for yourself why the Modzilla could be your next mini basher.
